What you get, by role

Three people care about
this water. Pick yours.

The sensor is the same in all three cases. What differs is the question you are asking it — taste, protection, or standardisation across sites.

Three problems. One sensor.

What water does to your café
every single day

Taste, machine, operations. Each one fails quietly, and none of them are visible without a sensor on the line.

Problem 01 — taste
Flat shots with no brightness
Alkalinity above 75 mg/L neutralises coffee acids. LA water at 120 mg/L is a 60% overshoot of the SCA target — in every shot.
What TDSBot does: Monitors TDS vs onboarded baseline. Alerts you to re-test when source water shifts — before your guests notice.
Solution
Re-test alert when TDS drifts — catch source water changes before they hit the shot
Problem 02 — machine
Scale and pitting you can't see
LSI above +0.5 scales your boiler. LS above 1.2 pits the steel. LA water does both. Every 1mm of scale costs ~8% efficiency.
What TDSBot does: Tracks cumulative CaCO₃ load and calculates data-driven descale intervals for your machine and throughput. LSI + Larson-Skold at 15°C, 93°C and 130°C.
847g
Cumulative CaCO₃ load this machine YTD
62d
Data-driven descale interval (vs 90d default)
Solution
Cumulative hardness load tracking → descale when the machine needs it, not when the calendar says
Problem 03 — operations
Replacing filters on a calendar, not on data
Time-based schedules replace cartridges too early at some sites, too late at others. Neither failure is visible without a sensor.
What TDSBot does: Volume flow × TDS drift × manufacturer baseline = days remaining with P10/P90 bands. Fleet average: +22% filter life.
Solution
40+ days advance notice — pre-order cartridges, schedule service, never run dry

The SCA Water Quality Handbook defines the target range for specialty coffee: TDS 75–250 ppm, alkalinity 40–75 mg/L, hardness 17–85 mg/L. La Marzocco's published boiler specification adds an LSI target of +0.2 to +0.7.

TDSBot applies both standards continuously to your inline sensor data — not from a quarterly lab test, but every minute, at brew temperature, at every machine.

The standards are public. The continuous inline application across a live fleet is what the coffee feature set adds.

Installation & workflow

From box to live data
in under 20 minutes

Inline between the filter outlet and the machine inlet. One wrench, quick-connect fittings, no plumber for most installs.

1
Install inline — between filter and machine
Fits between your filter outlet and espresso machine inlet. Compatible with 1/4″, 3/8″, and some 1/2″ water lines using quick-connect fittings. The sensor enclosure is splash-resistant — do not submerge. One wrench, 10–15 minutes. A service professional is recommended if you are not comfortable with water line connections.
2
Onboard your water chemistry
Enter your lab test or utility CCR values. TDSBot stores these as your baseline for SCA inference and drift alert thresholds.
3
TDSBot measures every minute
Parameters measured every minute. Reports hourly or daily. LSI and Larson-Skold live at three temperatures. Depletion model updates continuously.
4
Alerts before problems, not after
Email alerts — hourly or midnight digest. Filter depletion alert configurable (default 30 days advance). TDS drift alert when source chemistry shifts. WhatsApp alerts coming soon.

What we actually do
vs what no sensor can do

No inline sensor measures alkalinity or hardness directly. Here is exactly what TDSBot does — and doesn't do.

Measures TDS continuously
Live TDS every minute. Directly relevant to the SCA 75–250 ppm range. Tells you your total dissolved mineral load in real time.
Can do · inline measurement
Infers SCA alkalinity / hardness status
Uses onboarded lab chemistry ratios (TDS:hardness:alkalinity) to infer whether your water profile is likely still within SCA range. Not a measurement — an inference from known baseline.
Inference from baseline
Alerts when source water shifts
TDS drift triggers a re-test alert. Seasonal source blend changes are caught — even without direct alkalinity measurement.
Can do · TDS drift detection
Reports % of time water was within your target range
Set your TDS target range. TDSBot reports % of operating time each machine was within spec — per machine, per month.
Can do · continuous compliance tracking
Directly measures alkalinity or hardness
No inline sensor can. Lab testing required. TDSBot tells you when to test — it doesn't replace it.
Cannot do · lab test required
What coffee operators say

From baristas who
actually use it

“Our BWT Bestmax output was drifting for three weeks before a barista noticed the shots tasting flat. TDSBot now tells us 41 days before the cartridge exhausts. We haven't had a surprise filter failure since.”
KBKaito BandoHead of Coffee · Saza Coffee · Tokyo, Japan
“The Larson-Skold data was revelatory. We thought our boiler pitting was a machine defect. It was the water — chloride and sulphate were attacking the steel even while the LSI said we were scale-forming. Two separate problems, one sensor showing both.”
ACAlessia ConteCoffee Equipment Manager · Grand Hyatt Tokyo
“Across 14 LA locations we were replacing Everpure cartridges on a 6-month schedule. TDSBot showed us that two high-volume sites needed a change at 4 months, and three low-volume sites could go to 9. Cartridge spend down 18% in year one.”
RMRafael MoralesOperations Director · Plato Coffee · Los Angeles, United States of America

Questions from baristas

Before you install,
the honest answers

Not directly — no inline sensor can measure alkalinity or hardness in real time. TDSBot uses your onboarded inlet water chemistry (from a lab test or utility report) to infer whether parameters are likely still in SCA range, and alerts you to re-test when TDS shifts significantly. This is the correct real-world approach — sensors give the signal, lab tests confirm the chemistry.

For most BWT Bestmax and Everpure cartridges in a standard café flow profile, TDSBot provides 30–50 days of advance notice with P10/P90 confidence bands. The model combines cumulative volume flow with TDS drift against the manufacturer's capacity baseline. High-volume sites get earlier warnings; low-volume sites get narrower confidence bands.

Yes — TDSBot is filter-agnostic. It installs inline between any filter outlet and your espresso machine inlet. You onboard the manufacturer's rated capacity and flow parameters at setup. It works with BWT Bestmax, Everpure MRS-600S, Pentair systems, and any other inline filter with a 1/4″, 3/8″, or 1/2″ outlet using the included quick-connect fittings.

Yes. Every plan includes the multi-site fleet dashboard with a corporate → site hierarchy; Coffee Pro adds the SCA / LSI / LS view on top of it. Your ops team sees all 30 locations and their filter status in one view. Site managers see only their own machines. Alerts can be configured globally or per-site. There's no per-location fee beyond the per-device monthly rate.

A handheld meter is a snapshot — you measure when you remember to, and you notice the problem after it's happened. TDSBot measures continuously, every minute, and alerts you before the problem manifests. The filter depletion model, corrosion indices, SCA inference, and fleet dashboard are all impossible with a handheld meter. The value is in the trend and the prediction, not the single reading.

Most installations take 10–15 minutes with a wrench — no plumber required. TDSBot uses quick-connect fittings compatible with 1/4″, 3/8″, and some 1/2″ water lines, fitting inline between your filter outlet and espresso machine inlet. The device pairs over Bluetooth to set up the WiFi connection, then runs independently on your network. A full installation guide is included. If you are not comfortable working with water line connections, we recommend having a service professional carry out the installation.
